COVID-19 self-isolation and social distancing is challenging for a lot of people. Here are a few mindfulness tips to help boxers of all ages decrease stress, reduce anxiety, and build greater peace of mind while at home.

5 Mindfulness Tips and Techniques
  • Take 2-minute movement breaks throughout the day — walk outside, do some crunches, squats, jumping jacks, lunges, planks, or shadow-box — anything to move around a little and enjoy being physical
  • Eat with intention — take the time to sit down, chew every bite, and enjoy your meal
  • Breathe — in through the nose, filling lungs at the diaphragm for maximum oxygen stores
  • Get quality sleep —
    • Avoid caffeine and big meals close to bedtime
    • Turn off screens before bed
    • Use a weighted blanket to calm the nervous system
    • Align sleep time with circadian rhythms
