BOXING QUESTIONS

Answered straight, by the coaches who get asked

Getting started

Do I need boxing experience to join Fighters Boxing Gym?

No. Complete beginners are welcome. New members start in Boxing Basics, where a coach teaches stance, footwork, defense, and punching technique at a pace that works for them.

What should I wear and bring to my first boxing class?

Wear athletic shorts or leggings, a T-shirt or tank top, and lace-up athletic shoes you can move in. Bring water and a towel. If you own boxing gloves and hand wraps, bring those too. Otherwise, you can borrow gear for your first class. Leave jewelry at home and arrive 10–15 minutes early to tour the gym, sign your waiver, get your gear, and meet your coach.

Do I need to own boxing gloves and hand wraps?

No, you can borrow gloves and wraps for your first class. If you decide to continue training, your coach can help you choose gear that fits your training goals.

Will I have to spar?

No. Boxing Basics is non-contact, and you can train at Fighters without ever sparring. Intermediate Boxing includes partner work and contact drills. You progress to that level only when your coach says you are ready and you have the appropriate gear.

Can I train at Fighters if I do not want to compete?

Yes. Many members train to learn boxing, improve their fitness, and enjoy the sport without entering a competition. You can take Boxing Basics and use Open Gym without joining the Competition Team.

How often should a beginner train boxing?

Two or three sessions a week is a good starting point for most beginners. It gives you time to practice the fundamentals and recover between classes. You can add sessions as your conditioning and schedule allow.

Can I tour Fighters Boxing Gym before joining?

Yes. You can book a free trial class to experience the coaching or schedule a gym tour if you would rather look around before trying a class.

How much does it cost to train at Fighters Boxing Gym?

Membership rates depend on your class schedule and any eligible discounts. Ask our team for current options so you can see the price that fits how often you plan to train before you join.
