WHAT TO EXPECT

Your first workout starts here

Step Into the Ring

Your first day at Fighters Boxing Gym is where it all begins. You don’t need experience, just a good attitude, a little time, and the willingness to work. Here’s what to expect when you walk through our doors.

01

Arrive Early & Get Set Up

Show up 10–15 minutes before class so we can take care of the important stuff: sign your waiver, get you checked in, and give you a quick gym tour. We’ll show you the layout, explain how classes work, and introduce you to your coach. This is your time to get comfortable, ask questions, and get your mind right before class starts.

Our staff will make sure you’re ready to go and that you feel like part of the team from day one.

02

Gear Up & Learn the Basics

If you have your own gloves and wraps, bring them. If not, no problem: we’ve got loaner equipment. Your coach will walk you through stance, movement, and the basic punches so you can hit the ground running (and the bag hard).

Every class is led by USA Boxing-certified coaches who know how to teach safely, motivate effectively, and make sure everyone, from beginners to veterans, gets real work in.

03

It's Go Time

Once the music’s on and the gloves are up, it’s all business. You’ll train like a fighter, learning real technique, building endurance, and discovering what you’re made of. Each class brings a mix of skill work, bag rounds, conditioning, and energy that keeps you coming back.

No two sessions are the same, but the goal never changes: leave stronger, sharper, and more confident than when you walked in.

04

You're Part of the Team Now

We’re not just another gym, we’re a community of people who show up, put in the work, and push each other to get better. Whether you’re here to get fit, learn the sport, or chase competition, we’re in your corner every step of the way.

You’ll sweat. You’ll laugh. You’ll grow. And before long, you’ll realize you’re a fighter too.

Frequently Asked Questions

I have never boxed before. Can I start here?
Yes, and most people who walk in have never boxed. Our Boxing Basics class exists for exactly that: stance, footwork, the punches, and how to defend yourself, taught by USA Boxing-certified coaches. You are not thrown in with fighters on day one. You learn the same fundamentals our competitors learned, at the speed you can absorb them.
What should I wear and bring to my first boxing class?
Athletic shorts or leggings, a t-shirt or tank, training shoes, a water bottle, and a towel. Hand wraps are the one piece of gear worth owning from the start, since they support the small bones in your hands and they are personal kit, not something you borrow. Leave the jewelry at home and come a few minutes early so you can get wrapped up before the round starts.
Do I need my own boxing gloves?
Not for your first visit. Come as you are, see the gym, and talk to a coach about gloves once you know you are staying. When you do buy, most beginners are well served by 12oz to 16oz all-purpose gloves sized to their bodyweight, and your coach will tell you which end of that range fits you and the work you are doing. Ask us before you spend money on gear you do not need yet.
Will I have to spar?
No. Sparring is something you opt into once your coach thinks you are ready for it, and plenty of members train for years without ever taking a hard round. When you do want it, there is a path: sparring starts in the Intermediate class, then competition sparring with the team.
Can I come look at the gym before I sign up?
Yes, and we would rather you did. Stop by for a gym tour, watch a class, and meet the coaching staff, which the coaches suggest themselves for anyone thinking about the competition program. Call 629-289-2988 first so somebody is expecting you and can actually talk instead of holding pads.
